Renexia sails with Goletta Verde: the partnership to give the sea a sustainable future

Also in the summer of 2025 Goletta Verde returns to ply the Italian seas with a special partner: Renexia! We are thrilled to accompany this historic itinerant campaign to raise awareness about safeguarding Italy’s waters and coastlines, especially in the Taranto stop on July 11. Our partnership with Legambiente stems from a shared vision: energy from renewable sources and sea protection can not only coexist, but can mutually reinforce each other to build a more sustainable future. Goletta Verde has been a symbol of Italian commitment to the environment for nearly 40 years, carrying out crucial battles to protect our marine ecosystems. For Renexia, supporting this campaign means sharing deep values and a common mission: to show that technological innovation can be at the service of the environment, not against it.

Beleolico: the first example of sustainable offshore wind power in the Mediterranean

This is already confirmed by Beleolico, the first marine wind farm in Italy and in the Mediterranean created by Renexia, which has also become a virtuous example of coexistence between offshore wind power and cetaceans. This pioneering plant, located in the Gulf of Taranto, is not only a source of clean energy, but represents a model of development that respects the marine ecosystem. Beleolico’s experience has shown that offshore wind energy can integrate harmoniously with marine life, indeed contributing to the creation of new habitats that enhance biodiversity. In fact, the area near wind turbines can provide aggregation points for various marine species, creating true oases of underwater life.

Science confirms: a sightings map that tells the story of coexistence

One only has to look at the cetacean sightings map created in partnership with Jonian Dolphin Conservation and available on our website to understand the importance of this scientific approach. This tool documents the constant presence of different cetacean species in the area of the installation, testifying to how offshore wind can coexist with marine wildlife. Collaboration with Jonian Dolphin Conservation has enabled the collection of valuable data on sightings, including bottlenose dolphins and stenellas, in the Gulf of Taranto. The results show not only the compatibility between wind farms and cetaceans, but also highlight how these structures can become an integral part of the marine ecosystem, offering new opportunities for study and conservation.

Toward a future where energy and environment grow together

The partnership between Renexia and Goletta Verde represents a concrete step toward a development model that combines technological progress and environmental respect. Through scientific research conducted with qualified partners and deep understanding with associations such as Legambiente, we are demonstrating that the energy transition can be an opportunity to strengthen the protection of our seas. Supporting Goletta Verde means believing in a future where innovation in renewable energy and marine conservation go hand in hand, creating value for the environment, the economy and society.

A future where every spinning wind blade driven by the sea wind tells a story of authentic sustainability and respect for the life that inhabits our seas.
