Renexia sponsors Goletta verde 2026: together for marine conservation and the energy transition

Once again this year, Renexia renews its partnership with Legambiente for Goletta Verde and Goletta dei Laghi 2026, the historic campaigns for monitoring and protecting Italian waters. This commitment marks its fifth consecutive year and aligns with the vision of the Med Wind project, the floating offshore wind farm in the Strait of Sicily.

Goletta Verde 2026: The 40th Edition Kicks Off

The 40th edition of Goletta Verde, Legambiente’s campaign that sails along Italy’s coasts every summer to monitor the health of the sea, highlight critical issues related to pollution and the climate crisis, and promote a culture of sustainability, kicks off on June 15, 2026.

A significant milestone, 40 years, and alongside Goletta Verde, Goletta dei Laghi continues as well, dedicated to monitoring Italy’s lakes.

Data from the latest Mare Monstrum report confirm that pressures on marine ecosystems remain high: illegal discharges, inadequate wastewater treatment, plastic pollution, and extreme weather events require constant, scientific, and comprehensive monitoring. This is exactly what Goletta Verde has stood for over the past four decades.

Renexia and Legambiente: Five Years of Shared Commitment

For the fifth consecutive year, Renexia is sponsoring the Goletta Verde and Goletta dei Laghi campaigns. This partnership is based on a shared vision: protecting our oceans is an essential pillar of the energy transition.

“For five years, Renexia has stood alongside Legambiente in support of the Goletta Verde and Goletta dei Laghi campaigns, a shared commitment to protecting the sea as a resource and a vital effort to keep the spotlight on issues that remain critical today”, stated Riccardo Toto, General Manager of Renexia.

A collaboration that goes beyond sponsorship: it is the choice of a company operating in the offshore wind sector to actively stand alongside those who monitor the health of the sea and promote truly sustainable development models.

“We are convinced that the energy transition must be guided by innovation and scientific rigor, but also by constant dialogue with local communities and leading environmental associations”, added Riccardo Toto.

The Med Wind project: clean energy and protection of the marine ecosystem

Goletta Verde’s sponsorship aligns with the philosophy guiding Med Wind, the floating offshore wind farm that Renexia is developing in the Strait of Sicily. Designed from the outset to combine clean energy production with the protection of the marine ecosystem, Med Wind stands out for its key technical choices:

  • Location far from the coast, which reduces visual impact to zero;
  • Measures to protect birdlife, designed and validated through multi-year analyses;
  • Creation of conditions favorable to marine biodiversity, with effects comparable to those of a marine protected area.

In addition, Renexia plans to implement concrete initiatives around the project: synergies with the fishing industry, programs to collect plastic from the sea, and support for sustainable models of marine resource use.

“On the 40th anniversary of Goletta Verde, we are renewing our commitment with conviction to support a development model that prioritizes environmental quality, the protection of our sea, and a truly sustainable and more independent energy future,” concluded Riccardo Toto.

Energy-themed events

At four strategic stops, Goletta Verde 2026 will dedicate a specific session to the link between energy and marine conservation, with direct input from Renexia. Here are the energy-themed events:

  • Chioggia, June 19 – Veneto kicks off the discussion on offshore wind power and the Adriatic Sea.
  • Cesenatico (or Cesena), June 22 – Innovation and the energy transition in Emilia-Romagna.
  • Brindisi, July 7 – Puglia at the center of the debate on renewables and regional development.
  • Porto Torres, August 3 – Sardinia and the challenges of energy independence.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What is Goletta Verde?

Goletta Verde is Legambiente’s historic summer campaign, launched in 1986, which travels along the Italian coastline every year to monitor water quality, report sources of pollution, and promote the protection of the sea and lakes through scientific data, events, and the involvement of local communities.

Why does Renexia sponsor Goletta Verde?

Renexia is a company operating in the offshore wind sector, a field that relies on the sea as its primary resource. Supporting Goletta Verde means contributing to scientific and civic oversight of the health of Italian waters, in line with the Med Wind approach: producing clean energy while protecting the marine ecosystem.

What is the Med Wind project?

Med Wind is Italy’s first floating offshore wind farm, developed by Renexia in the Strait of Sicily. It uses floating turbines positioned far from the coast, eliminating any visual impact. The project incorporates measures to protect birdlife and marine biodiversity, fosters synergies with the fishing industry, and includes plastic collection programs.

Which Italian regions will the Goletta Verde 2026 visit?

The campaign will visit 13 regions: Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Calabria, Sicily, Basilicata, Campania, Lazio, Tuscany, Sardinia, and Liguria, departing from Grado on June 15 and concluding in Savona on August 8.

How can I participate in Goletta Verde events?

Each stop features events open to the public, workshops, and opportunities to engage with experts and institutions. The full program is available on the Legambiente website and on Goletta Verde’s official channels.
